Come October it is the season of
festivals in India
and also the season of common virus fever. This is brought about by the onset
on North East Monsoon which is mainly centered around the southern states. Till
October 20th the climate is very hot and suddenly some cold wind
sets up and you get all sorts of fever though not generally benign curable in a
day or two. November to January are the only three somewhat pleasant months in
this country which otherwise reels under hot sun. But barring Kashmir
valley you can not find any snow here. That makes for all the westerners this place
heaven for their winter abode especially place like Kerala and Goa. Local people can withstand any amount of fever but
for foreigner it will be tough time this monsoon. They have to take adequate
precaution and the moment you have some temperature please make sure you visit
a good doctor. Do not rely on the local guide who advises you to just to take
an ant-pyretic tablet. They can endure but a foreigner may not.
